When we moved into this house in 2004 the fireplace was a large wall of brick ceiling to floor.
This past Friday, My good friend Lea dropped by and presented me a gift of one of his paintings. He didn't realize how well it fit into the design of my mantle piece. At first, I was going to hang it next to the cowboy painting where the Taos Pueblo painting hangs, but it was a little too overpowering there, so I moved it to the far left and I really do like it. I also found a natural cedar frame for it!
The visit was important to me in many ways. First because I haven't seen my friend in a while. But also, I was inspired to push myself out of the box a little more. I realized that if I just keep doing what I do, I will stagnate.
So thanks, friend for the inspiration and for the painting.

Now that inspires me, Donna! We have a used brick behemoth of a fireplace in our family room that I would love to transform in a similar way. Very nicely done & Lea's painting seems made to order, doesn't it? I love the gallery of work displayed this way! We have always had an old shootin' iron on hand-forged hooks, taken down now & needing to be re-purposed. Also, I have recently bought a mass of acrylic paint & have been toying around with it. Wish you lived closer by, I'd be your student. These things can be done, & that is something I needed to discover today! Have Fun & good luck with further projects!

I hope you fall all the way out of the box if that is what you want and will bring you great joy.

Stepping is preferred to falling, but getting out of the box is getting out of the box!

but if you fall then it is all the way and you have to make it work...:) I fall out of my box all the time-ok so the scrapes and carpet burns arent fun but the laughter and ideas are worth it...

I don't have time to fall out of the box right now. I must step out quickly and then get on with my life!
